This is my mac lab final product to hand in enjoy!!!!!!

Hey its been a while!

Hey hows it going?

It's been such a busy time the last month or so... trying to keep everything in order for all my project's. When it comes to the artists books there coming along really well but its something that is going to take me some time to finish and by finish i mean do well!!!!!! 

The artist book I'm going to hand in for Mac Lab 

I went with using the black cover we hand made in class, I think that the cover worked out really nicely. The images that are on the inside are from my very first idea, which was to use the images from the gardens project that we did last term.

Each images is the same size and there are doubles of some, in all there are 12 images that haven't been re sized but have been changed on photo shop, across all the images there has been changes in tone, colours, filters and backgrounds. 

I've worked with using earth tones (browns, greens etc)  and contrast them with bright dramatic over the top colours (pink, purple etc). I did this because on the one hand it relates to the nature of the subject and one the other hand it draws attention to the topic which and be underlined as environmental.

One thing i have noticed when people look at the book they questions different things about it including the subject matter, the colours, the way it folds out, where the photos were taken.........     

That's good because it's shows that people are interested and that it's making people think, also it helps me to refine further ideas and look differently at the ways i do my work, weather it be working on the artist books, doing a painting, drawing etc.

Rye houses

Taken on a trip away with the girls, i had this one photo of the row of beach houses that i loved. I didnt just want to put the photo into the book.... so i cut it into six parts and changed each image into black and white but used filters and such to add a different effect to each, I ended up only using the roof tops as the focus of the images in the book.

these are photos taken for the gardens project. the thing i like most about these images now is that you cant tell what flower. these were also worked on using photoshop.

Faces

These are images of my friends and myself from all over the place. I work with the images on photo shop once i got the hang of what i wanted to do i managed to come away with a basic format of the face and added different colours, patterns and tones etc. In the books i printed one copy of the image onto nice paper as a background stuck them in the book and added the same image that i had printed onto tracing paper over the top but a little out of place.

Three down and three to go!!!!!

Ive put heaps of effort into coming up with images for my artists books so far im really happy with what ive come up with...... each book follows a theme. The three that ive finished are 1. faces ( thanks to my friends they dont know it yet) 2. Rye beach houses ( a trip away with the girls at the begining of the year!!) 3. flowers ( flowers from the gardens project)... now to get the photo's up.

and these are some of the flower images that i have wroked on... the pictures are from when we went to the gardens for class..... i wanted to use the images but i wasnt sure how. After playing around with some different ideas... i worked with the flowers the same way i did with the faces.. removing parts and only used small areas of the images to create the picture.. in some if you look at them for long enough you see different things.

these are a few of the images i have used in my faces book... i spent some time working on photoshop with pictures of friends. i liked the idea of not being able to see all of the facial features and being able to add different effects and colours

over the last week i have added pages to all six book's!!!!!!!!!! and two books even have some images. i working with a different theme for each book. Book one is faces, two will be flowers.... you will have to see it to understand... soon there will be pictures up.

ello!

ok so over the past few weeks ive been working on my book covers, there now complete with lining and strings, now im going to work on a layout. not to sure what im going to do yet but im working on a few idea's..... i also now have a photoshop program on my computer, so ive been working on some images and seeing what i can come up with. Hopefully by the end of next week ill have some stuff printed to put into the books... i think im going a little over the top but everyone that looks at the set seem to think they look good

in this blog ive added some photos of the books so far..... soon ill put up some final images that are going in............... im thinking something along the line of post cards

Follow on for my artist book....

At the end of the next 11 weeks i would like to have finished my collection of artist books that we are developing within the Mac lab class.
I think I'm going to put the different area's that i cover at nmit, such as prints from both photography and print making and photo shop, drawings from life drawing, and little ideas that Ive been working on in my own time.
About two weeks ago i went on the hunt to find some things that i think are interesting to make my artist books out of. I new i wanted something that had texture, colour and a common them to the colour and line. I ended up finding a set of large tea towels that carried the same theme/ style to them. ive made six covers now im going to work on getting the images into a nice format and learn how to print it cut it fold it and stick it in.

Artist's book

over the next few months i will be working on developing and putting together new idea's for my artist book, im thinking of putting together a set of six books that display my work done over the progression of the year. i think its a great way to show works and gives people a tactile object to hold a look at.

what new

i've been away from my computer for a while, not much has changed but lots of interesting thing have been developing within my art work. I'm getting used to trail and error more so, before hand i would attempt to try a new style and when it didn't work for me or i didn't like the end image i would go back to what i knew, with that said I'm having lots more fun with what i trying out and different area's, within the future i will put up some more photo's of what I'm doing ie: photo's drawing etc.
